The business was founded in 2004 after the disposal of my accountancy practice, based in Essex. The accountancy practice, whilst providing the services one would expect, had already evolved to lend a more sympathetic ear to its clients, assisting more closely with the day to day running of their businesses when the need arose.
My decision to dispose of the business was due to my imminent relocation to Suffolk but I retained a handful of clients with whom I had the closest working relationship, and built on those relationships to, essentially, become part of their team. Thus the whole concept of a one-stop shop of back office support, and The Rainbird Partnership (TRP), was born.
For a number of years I commuted regularly to my clients’ business premises, effectively as a freelance financial controller – doing exactly that, controlling the finances for my clients, with all that entailed.
The business became more and more Wickhambrook-based as the concept and use of outsourced services became more popular – and acceptable – to businesses large and small.
AccountAbility-plus (AAP) was formed to be the trading arm of The Rainbird Partnership for this area of the business. The nature of our service has also adapted and expanded, adding support in all areas of the back-office function to ensure that the AAP/TRP team are the “go to” people when help is needed, whatever that might be. We work very closely with our clients on a day-to-day basis, becoming part of their team and working with them as an extension of their own work-force. Our fall-off of clients is very low – once a client always a client – and we will always assist a successful client in recruiting their own in-house team, when their own needs demand it.
