    Coming from a farming background I had always assumed I would have a career in agriculture. However, involvement in a diversification project at a young age, made me curious as to how a successful business worked.

    After working for a number of accountants I realised that it wasn’t for me and embarked on my first business venture helping small businesses. I took my laptop from place to place working at my client’s site.

    This was at a time when small businesses didn’t have ready access to computers and, by giving them real time information, I revolutionised my clients’ ability to assess their profitability and deal with any potential financial issues before they became problems. Despite having no support from the bank, I financed the business venture myself, gradually increasing my roving support team.

    I disposed of this very successful business in 2004 when I relocated to Suffolk, becoming a financial controller, mainly in the City. I offered a wide range of financial-related support, including the processing of complex payrolls, company secretarial services and assisting FCA-regulated businesses with their compliance.

    The success I achieved in offering this diversity of services led me to my most recent business venture, - AccountAbility-Plus - a complete back office support solution to assist growing businesses.

    Over the years I have been involved in running a number of businesses, ranging from a cash & carry feed merchant to a building maintenance company, a coarse fishery to a café and shop, architectural salvage to investment property rental and I have experienced the growing pains all businesses suffer. My team and I can ease those pains for other growing businesses. We work with them becoming an integral part of their team. Using our expertise and experience we can optimise our clients’ business growth with our day to day business support.

    My fascination with business, any business, has given me a career I could not possibly have imagined and this fascination has not diminished over the years.

    And, in case you are wondering, I am still a closet horticulturist, my ambition being to plant my own vineyard in my little bit of the Suffolk countryside. Who knows, in a few years, I could be adding vintner to my successful business ventures!

    I am a book keeper who has worked as financial controller in an accountants office for many years until moving to Zakynthos for a gap couple of years. I have experience in credit control, payroll, CIS, VAT, and book keeping and like the challenge of learning something new. I have worked in this industry for over 20 years so have lots of experience. My go to hobbies and interests when not number crunching are painting, walking the dogs in the beautiful Suffolk countryside and of course my young granddaughter who keeps me on my toes.

A member of the CIPD and level 7 qualified, I believe HR support is essential in helping a business operate effectively - recruiting the right staff, engaging, motivating and rewarding them so as to retain them. I take pride in my work and the support provided and I care about giving sound HR advice based on each business’ unique circumstances. I strive to always deliver the best customer care possible. In my spare time, you will find me exploring new places with friends, crowd surfing at a Foo Fighters concert or watching sports - cheering on my favourite football team, Tottenham Hotspur.

    I see myself as an experienced generalist - starting as a goods inwards clerk for a bathroom fittings company, moving onto freight forwarding at Heathrow Airport, a period as chief clerk at a building society, leading to working in an engineering environment, specialising in procurement, carbon emission monitoring and utility management at a meat processing plant. (I know how much energy it takes to produce a pork chop!) Outside of work I love long country walks with my very lively spaniel and I enjoy crafting with a dry to medium glass of white.
