A survey commissioned by Miele, has highlighted that workplace kitchen hygiene standards and facilities are often inadequate.
The list of complaints highlights dirty dishes, overflowing bins, dirty worktops, and filthy appliances. 75% of respondents said their domestic kitchen was cleaner than their workplace kitchen.
HSE rank Kitchen hygiene standards highly on their priority list. They are checked on site inspection visits, which include welfare facilities, including break and kitchen areas, toilets and washrooms. They check to see that the standards meet those defined in the Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) Regulations 1992. This legislation requires that facilities are in good order and are kept clean.
