Are your business emails compliant? Were you aware they needed to be?
Not many business owners are aware of the rule which all business emails must adhere to, but not doing it could land you with a fine of up to £1000.
The UK Companies Act 2006 states that if you run a private or public company, or a Limited Liability Partnership, you must include the following details into your business email footer:
- Company name
- Company registration number
- Place of registration (e.g. Scotland or England & Wales)
- Registered office address (which may be different from the office you trade from)
All outgoing business emails must now contain this data, so all your staff should be using the same email footer and details.
